Stützpunkt Melland is the site of German fortifications that were built in 1944 using Russian prisoners of war, among others, as the workforce. The fortifications originally consisted of a railway, eight cannon sites, and several buildings including an infirmary and soldiers' quarters. A marked trail runs through the area, and a brochure with information about the site is available from a box by the trail. The fortifications are widely spread, and thus a visit also involves a nice walking and fresh air. Please remember to lock gates behind you!
